Resident Evil 5

The Resident Evil games have finally made it to the next gen consoles with Resident Evil 5. Playing the game on the Xbox 360 or PS3 looks astonishing. On top of that, for the first time ever, Capcom's hit series has added co-operative play. In R.E. 5 you and a friend have to work together to take on the infected menace (for those of you that didn't play resident Evil 4, the main villians are no longer zombies, hence I refer to them as the infected menace). The controls are pretty much exactly the same as the previous installments. If you've played any of the previous games it should be rather easy for you to pick up the controller and figure it out with ease. Though some people are still on the fence about playing the game with a partner, it definitly adds a new edge to the series. futhermore it's even being said that Capcom will be releasing versus multiplayer downloadable content for R.E. 5 later on in the year. Even if you have never played a Resident Evil game, R.E. 5 is definitely worth checking out.

Last year AMC brought out a show unlike any other before, 'Breaking Bad'. Though the first season only lasted a quick seven episodes, they were so good they they ensured the series a continued contract. In 'Breaking Bad' Bryan Cranston stars as an older Chemistry teacher at a local high school, Walter White. In the first episode Walt is diagnosed with lung cancer and told he doesn't have much longer to live. Enter the rest of his family; his pregnant wife Skylar, his son Walt White Jr. suffering from cerebral palsy, his sister-in-law Marie, and most important to kicking off the entire series, her husband D.E.A. agent Hank. You see, it's when Walt accompanies Hank on a meth lab bust that he runs into an old student of his, Jessie Pinkman. Rather than turn Jessie over to his brother, he let's him escape. The next day he tracks Jessie down and gives him a very important decison to make, either the two cook meth together or Walt will turn him in. From there the show picks up in very different ways. We see Walt's transformation from a lowly guy letting life pass him by to someone that takes control of the wheel. Creator Vince Gillian has made it very clear that this show is not about the perks of the drug crystal meth, rather the conseqences that come with it. Already winning two Emmy awards, 'Breaking Bad' season one is available in stores now on Blue Ray and DVD. E3 is Back in Business

After a dissapearing act for the past couple of years E3 is once again open to the public. For those that aren't familar with E3 it's the biggest video game convention on the West Coast. A majority of video game publishers have booths and you can be sure that you'll get plenty of S.W.A.G. For those in the Entertainment Industry E3 is free. That includes vendors, publishers, and the media. If you are not in the biz you can still get in it'll just cost you 400 bucks. E3 will be held June 2-4 2009. While there you can play a huge selection of games that will be coming out over the next couple of years. E3 is also a time for us to learn of companies new innovative ideas including new consoles, and hardwares. For more information on attending E3 check out their website at e3expo.com.

Star Ocean

Star Ocean is an RPG of epic proportions. Specifically Star Ocean: The Second Story, originally released on the PS1 and recently re-released on the PSP with the title Star Ocean: Second Evolution. This is one of the best RPGs I have ever played. For starters there are hundreds of different endings. At the beggininng of the game you choose one of two main characters, though you get both on your team no matter what, each character has it's own story. Futhermore as you meet a huge cast of characters,you have to choose who to accept in your party. By choosing one party member you loose the ability to gain another. Beyond the story the gameplay is great. Each character has plenty of abilities, all used in a very unique way. Futhermore your abilities constantly level up and change for the better. The more you use a specific ability the more it grows and the more powerful it becomes. If you own a PSP then check out Star Ocean: Second Evolution. If you don't have a PSP but have an Xbox then look into Star Ocean: The Last Hope. Last Hope is a prequel so even if you're new to the series it might be for you.

How I Met Your Mother

"How I Met Your Mother" is one of the best shows on television and hardly anybody knows about it. The show follows the life of Ted Mosby(Josh Radnor) and his best friends Marshall(Jason Segal), Lily(Alyson Hannigan), Robin(Cobie Smulders) and Barney(Neil Patrick Harris). Every episode starts out years in the future with Ted telling his kids the story of how he met their mother. Then it flashes back to modern times in which Ted is a single architect looking for love in as the wrong places. Though we still don't have any clue as to who the mother really is, we follow Ted through his journey of girlfriends and one night stands. All of which supposedly leading up to how he met his wife. Enter Barney, Ted's true wing man and womanizer extraordinaire. N.P.H. does an excellent job of portraying this character with a bunch of one line catch phrases including "Suit Up" and "Legen, wait for it...dary, Legendary." Though Barney is Ted's wing man on the prowl, Marshall is his best friend. Marshall and Ted were roommates in college, and yes we see many great college experience flashbacks. At that point they also meet Lily, whom Marshall has been with since. This is very much an adult show. Personally I consider it a much edgier "Friends." Instead of hanging out at a cafe the group's central meeting spot is McClaren's Bar. There are also a lot of sexual innuendos as well as blunt force jokes. In any case it's a very clever show and original show. The writing is superb and the cast does a great job of bringing the script to life as well as giving the characters depth. Definitely check it out!

Are you "Lost" yet

Currently in it's fifth of six seasons Lost continues to up it's own scale. If you think a show about survivors of a plane crash living on a remote island would be your day to day survival tale, you couldn't be more wrong. Sure it starts with the plane crash but by the end of the first season you learn there is something fishy about the island. I really don't want to give away anything at all about the show, so I'm not gonna. But I will say if you watch the first episode, chances are you probably won't stop watching until you are caught up with the current episodes. that is definitly not an overstatement either. The show has a very unique and intriguing style that will have you hooked within the first couple of minutes. Let me just say S**t goes down in "Lost" so check it out.

PS Home

For those familar with Second Life, PS Home is simply a watered down version made for the PS3. However, that is not to say it's a bad thing. For those unfamilar with Second Life, it's basically a virtual world where you create a character, become employed and pratically live a second life. PS Home is similar but you just go around and meet other online gameres. You begin with an apartment and an avatar. You are free to go around and play mini games, meet other gamers and buy things for you character including items for your apartment, clothes for your avatar, and even new properties. Though on;y the Beta is available right now, it is shapping up to be a very addicting addition to the PS3.

Gears of War 2

The Horde is back but I wouldn't worry about it to much about it because so are Marcus, Dominique and the rest of the cast that lived through the original Gears. Back and better than ever Gears 2 comes equipped with the classic campaign and multiplayer modes as well as the new Horde mode in which four players attempt to survive 50 waves of the Horde. Gears 2 is available Friday on the X Box 360. Check it out!

Mighty Muggs

Mighty Muggs are Hasbro's newest toy sensation. They are very simple toys based on popular franchises including Staer Wars, Indiana Jones, and Marvel. Also in the works are G.I. Joe and Transformers Mighty Muggs. Though they are simple in design they still capture the major elements of our beloved characters including, Darth Vader, Captain America and even sean Connery as Indy's dad. You can find Mighty Muggs for an average of ten dollars a piece. Furthermore, if a character you like doesn't exist you can purchase big white or big black, blank mighty muggs that you can costumize. These toys are awesome, Check it Out!

True Blood

HBO's new hit show based on the "Sooky Stackhouse Chronicles" features a very interesting take on vampires. Supposedly surviving on a synthetic blood known as true blood, vampires co-exist alongside humans as an intergrated part of modern society. Anna Paquin stars as Sooky Stackhouse, a mind reader. This has been a struggle for Sooky her entire life. When a vampire named Bill (Stephen Moyer) roles into town she is very intrigued by the fact that she can't hear whats going on in his head. The shoe also follows the lives of Sooky's older brother, Jason, who eventually get's addicted to vampire blood. That's right, vampire blood is a drug. this show is deep and good. New episodes air Sundays on HBO, and its also available on On Demand. Check it Out.

Sony's Rollie

The Sony Roll

One of my friends showed me this little gadget from Sony called the Rolly. It's basically an mp3 player but it actually moves around and dances according to the music playing or sounds going on in the background. That's right, the Rolly will record sounds in the background and make motions according to the sounds it records. Yes, it definitly looks really cool. The Office

"The Office" returns tommorrow night at nine with season five's premier episode, Weight Loss. This is one of my favorite shows and is totally worth checking out. The show follows the lives of paper company, Dunder Mifflin, employees. It's is a mockumentary comedy series and the laughs are endless. This is one show where every cast member is important, and no one character carries the show. Each character has a unique personality they bring to the show and when they come together you can prepare yourself for plenty of office antics and senseless knowlegde. Seasons 1-4 are available now on dvd and I highly recommend picking them up. Furthermore the website offers plenty of expansion with updated blogs from the cast as well as multiple games to play. Something new for the weekend

Ever get bored of playing video games or just spending too much time inside? Well good news, you have the entire pacific coastline at your side. With that in mind greab your binoculars and hit the beaches cause its whale watching season. All week long orcas have been seen playing right off the coast. So take some time this weekend and go see a killer whale jump out of the water. It's an amazing site to see. Not only will it be really cool, but it can be very stress relieving as well. So find a date and enjoy some whales!
